The Lounge
2024 Clandon Park and Lightbox Gallery, Woking, UK
The Lounge was a large-scale, mixed media artwork by artist Harold Offeh and local community groups which explores the meaning of ‘home’, exhibited at the Lightbox Gallery in Woking, UK. Harold Offeh created the exhibition with students from The Orpheus Centre, young people from Amber and volunteers from Lightbox Gallery and Clandon Park. The installation occupies the whole gallery and will play host to a series of events exploring its theme.
Through workshops and visits, participants learnt more about the history of Clandon Park and of Woking and the communities who have made it their home. Responding to these histories as well as the theme of ‘home’, participants collaborated with Offeh to develop patterns, designs and a film, inspired by the past and reflecting the present.
The Lounge was co-commissioned by the National Trust and Lightbox Gallery.
